Great news for Melbourne International Comedy Festival which recorded its highest ticket sales ever at this year's event. Box office takings exceeded $13 million in 2013, and attendance was up more than 12%. For further info, see here:

Melbourne is set to welcome one of professional golf's oldest tournaments, the World Cup of Golf, this November. The Victorian government told the Australian that it "expects the event will draw up to 9000 interstate and international visitors and generate $25-$30 million for the state's economy." Victoria’s peak tourism industry body says while it is pleased with the funding announcement in the 2013-14 Victorian state budget for an additional $24 million towards the industry’s marketing efforts, it is disappointed that a funding contribution towards the extension of the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) has not been included.
