This summer, Tourism Victoria and the Country Fire Authority (CFA) are offering tourism businesses and holiday accommodation booking agencies free resources that can be used to inform visitors about bushfire safety.
Tourism businesses are an important source of bushfire information for visitors. According to research conducted by Sweeney Research in 2011, most visitors expect tourism businesses in high risk locations to have the right information about bushfire safety.
Tourism businesses and holiday accommodation booking agencies can choose from a range of resources such as brochures, fridge magnets, key tags and fire danger rating displays. The resources explain how to check fire danger ratings and fire warnings.
Community Information Guides, which provide local information that will help people plan what to do on high risk days or if a fire starts, are also available for a number of tourism destinations.
A quick guide for your business on how you can stay informed
In addition to free resources, Tourism Victoria and the CFA have developed a quick one-page guide for tourism businesses on how to check fire danger ratings and fire warnings, and how to keep visitors informed about visitor safety.
This easy to follow guide is designed to be a quick reference point for tourism businesses looking to familiarise themselves with the tools that can be used to stay informed about fire risk as well as bushfire information protocols.
