The Victoria Tourism Industry Council (VTIC) has expressed relief that legislation allowing private investment in sensitive, appropriate and sustainable tourism infrastructure in national parks has passed the lower house of State Parliament.

VTIC Chief Executive Dianne Smith says, “We’re relieved this important legislation has been passed by the lower house and look forward to it carrying through to the Legislative Council.

“With a result of 42 to 43, this was a close vote that could have seen a lot of good reform work undone.

“The tourism industry will welcome the progress of this Bill which will help our sector to thrive.”
