Melbourne shines during Australian Open

Melbourne was showcased to the world during the Australian Open tournament this month, with the $366 million stage one redevelopment of the Olympic Park precinct on display. Congratulations to Tennis Australia and the Melbourne and Olympic Parks Trust for staging another successful event.

Pre-event estimations put the number of expended attendees at more than 686,000, with the Open tipped to inject $239 million into the Victorian economy and create 1400 jobs.  A further 300 million people across the globe were expected to watch the tournament broadcast, further solidifying Melbourne’s reputation as a leading sporting destination.
