VTIC Chief Executive Dianne Smith recently attended the launch of a new strategic partnership between Tourism Australia, the Department of Resources, Energy and Tourism (DRET) and the Australian Trade Commission (Austrade), which have joined forces to promote the many investment opportunities across the Australian tourism industry to foreign and local investors.
In activating the partnership, Tourism Australia, Austrade and DRET unveiled several communication tools including the new Australian Tourism Investment Guide, which outlines up to 80 investment-ready opportunities and proposed tourism projects, a marketing video and website (www.tourisminvestment.com.au), creating a single destination to help inform tourism investment decisions.
As part of this initiative, several Victorian projects were identified as investment-ready, including The Hotel Windsor in the CBD, Dromana Estate Winery & Conference Centre on the Mornington Peninsula and Sanae at Sault Resort in Daylesford.
VTIC welcomes this formal collaboration as a key step towards a more coordinated approach to tourism infrastructure investment, as well as welcome recognition that the tourism industry offers some great investment opportunities that will generate both jobs and visitation. VTIC looks forward to being part of industry consultation going forward as the partnership is implemented.
