Tourism Health Check

In 2002 and 2005, the Country Victoria Tourism Council in conjunction with the Centre for Regional Tourism Research released a report titled "Local Government Indicators of Sustainable Management of Tourism". This report was produced following research into local governments throughout Victoria. The surveys requested information regarding the structures, staffing, funding and strategic planning processes employed by local government in the management of tourism.

In 2008 Tourism Alliance Victoria conducted a follow up survey and found the demands for the research remained high and is particularly useful to help councils determine tourism budgets, staffing and application of best value.

In 2010 in partnership with research company IER Pty Ltd, Tourism Alliance undertook the study of the 79 Victorian Local Government Councils to find out how healthy our tourism industry. A total of 65 Councils completed the survey. These figures were then compared with studies undertaken in 2002, 2005 and 2008.

Final reports for the 2010 and past years research is made available via the member-only section of this website.
