VTIC’s comment on train stoppage

04 /09/ 2015 Comments are Closed

The stoppage of many services across Melbourne’s train network for several hours today and tomorrow due to union industrial action is causing significant delays in Victoria’s transport network and having a detrimental impact on our tourism and events industry.

The delays and associated increased congestion impacts visitors moving around Melbourne to and from their accommodation, tourism attractions, shops and amenities such as cafes and restaurants.

Tourism businesses are being disrupted due to delays in staff commuting to work and moving around Melbourne for work purposes.

Victoria’s tourism sector calls for a swift end to this dispute so there is no further disruption to the transport network.
