Opening of the Y Water Discover Centre and Visitor Information Centre
Visitors to Yea will now be able to experience its newest attraction, the Y Water Discover Centre which officially opened at the end of August.
The Y Water Discovery Centre has been made possible through a number of initiatives and organisations coming together with the Yea Wetlands Trust and Murrindindi Shire. The result is a $1.9 million state of the art Educational facility but also Victoria’s newest accredited Visitor Information Centre.
The Visitor Information Centre already has a dedicated group of volunteers and council has committed providing funding for a Coordinator position. The Centre will not only service visitors but provide assistance to local community, traders and businesses and even schools.
Within the centre, students can view interactive environmental interpretative displays that inform the importance of water, local wetland ecology and biodiversity retention in supporting floodplain, catchment and water resource management.
