High Country VIC volunteers and staff celebrate its 10th annual VIC in Mount Beauty
110 VIC volunteers and staff from the High Country region recently flocked to Mount Beauty for its 10th annual regional summit. On arrival, everyone enjoyed a ‘Get-to-know Mount Beauty tour’ to familiarise themselves with the hidden delights that the town has to offer. This was followed by a delicious and entertaining dinner at Flour and Water restaurant.
Highlights of the summit included an information and training session from Peter Hull (Sweetwater Brewing Company) who spoke about the Brewery trails in the north-east, an enlightening famil to Bogong Horseback Adventures where volunteers had a chance enjoy a horsemanship demonstration and visit the new accommodation and riders lounge and thanks to Falls Creek Coaches, the group visited Mountain Creek picnic ground there was a ‘mini expo’ showcasing a great mix of displays from businesses in the Kiewa Valley.
There were early morning walks and some took advantage of the beautiful Spring day to stroll around Shady Gully with others testing out the ‘all terrain wheelchair’ (housed at the Mount Beauty Visitor Centre all year around for the public to use free of charge).
Mount Beauty Country Club hosted a delightful lunch followed by an entertaining and inspiring talk by guest speaker award winning adventurer Tim Cope. The feedback and surveys reflect that everyone enjoyed the day immensely and many who didn’t even know where Mount Beauty was are quite keen to return for a holiday!
