ATAP runs a number of specialised accreditation programs for specific sectors within our industry. These include:
Visitor Information Centres
The yellow “i” sign with the blue background that you see above is a registered trademark for accredited Visitor Information Centres (VICs). Accreditation through this program allows VICs to use the yellow italicised “i” symbol, the nationally recognised trademark, by adhering to risk, quality control and customer service principles.
Only accredited VICs can display this trademark and have approved Vic Roads signage directing visitors to the centre.
A VIC must complete both the ATAP online accreditation program and the additional VIC specific guidelines for consideration of approval. There are a range of mandatory requirements a VIC must meet before they can reach accreditation. Some of the minimum criteria a VIC must meet includes:
Camp and/or Adventure Activity Accreditation
The Camp/Adventure Activity Provider Accreditation is a merger of the previous Camping with Confidence program (formerly managed by the Australian Camps Association) into ATAP and is designed for any business that works within the camp and/or adventure activity industries.
The new program, which has gained endorsement from the Department of Education and Training (Victoria), provides recognition to those businesses that have met industry standards within the sector.
Camp/Adventure Activity Provider Accreditation has been designed to ensure the camping or outdoor experience is conducted in an appropriate manner. It ensures there are clear procedures for supervising campers and administering bookings , that proper planning has been done to manage emergencies should they arise and that engagement with the appropriate authorities (e.g. for buildings, food handling, equipment maintenance) has been undertaken.
