Australian Open shines a global spotlight on Melbourne

29 /01/ 2014 Comments are Closed

Congratulations to the team at Tennis Australia for another spectacular Australian Open. A total of 643,280 fans attended this year’s tournament and the event was broadcast to more than 200 countries.

The domestic television audience reached 13.6 million across the two weeks, while the largest percentage of international visitors to ausopen.com were from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, India and China.

The victory by women’s singles champion, Li Na, on her third attempt will also undoubtedly further raise the profile of Melbourne and Victoria in China – our most valuable inbound visitor market.
