24 /10/ 2012 Comments are Closed

VTIC members continue to be recognised for outstanding industry achievement. This month, our congratulations go to the Phillip Island Nature Park, which received the prestigious Governor of Victoria Export Award for a Small to Medium Business at a ceremony at Government House on 17 October. Well done also to the Quality Hotel Tabcorp Park, Jodie Willmer and Puffing Billy Railway for receiving significant accolades.

Puffing Billy Railway

Puffing Billy Railway won the Commercial Exhibitor Award for the ‘Best Woolworths Fresh Food Pavilion Exhibitor’ at the Royal Melbourne Show. Their stand, which was staffed by more than 50 volunteers over the 11 days of the event, featured the railway’s ‘Thomas the Tank Engine’ locomotive, guest appearances by ‘the Fat Controller’ and Puffing Billy’s mascot ‘Puff’n Bill’. The team also sold tickets and show bags.

Quality Hotel Tabcorp Park

The Quality Hotel Tabcorp Park received its third consecutive Gold Award at the 2012 Choice Hotels Australasia Conference in August. The awards recognise outstanding performance within the Choice Hotels’ stable of almost 300 properties across Australia and New Zealand.

Jodie Willmer, Travellers Aid CEO

Travellers Aid Chief Executive Officer Jodie Willmer was awarded an honorary life membership to JOY Melbourne on 1 October, in recognition of her “extraordinary commitment and contribution to the purpose of JOY Melbourne 94.9”. For the past 16 years, Jodie has volunteered as a broadcaster and she hosts the long-running weekly travel show ‘Detours’. Jodie has previously served on the committee of management, the finance and audit committee and grants team, and is now chair of the risk management committee.
