Last week, we delivered another remarkable event with the completion of our 2019 Victorian Visitor Information Services Summit at Holmesglen at Eildon. Aside from the fact that the venue was truly magical, the content, speakers and outcomes set a great foundation for building our future directions in visitor servicing.
While the sands are shifting in the territory of visitor servicing, one thing is clear – the need and importance for human engagement, endorsement and interaction is still very much a part of what’s required. We explored new ways to connect with our visitors to ensure they’re getting the most out of the destination, as well as innovative partnerships that can take our connections to new levels. If you missed the event this year, and you are involved in any way in servicing visitors in your destination, you need to make sure that you’re not absent next year.
Today is the closing date for submissions to the Regional Tourism Review. VTIC has completed a comprehensive analysis of the issues confronting the growth of the visitor economy in Regional Victoria, and will be sending our final submission to Government today.
I want to thank everyone that has contributed to this process, from the Working Group formed to those of you that completed our member survey and shared your thoughts in interviews and via email. We will be sharing our submission on the VTIC website once its been delivered and will be advocating strongly to Government for immediate and decisive action once the recommendations are finally accepted later in the year.
