“’Twas the week before Christmas when all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse….”
It’s still hard to believe that Christmas is just around the corner, and we will be ushering in a new decade in just a couple of weeks.
This is the time of year for reflection….to look back on all that has been achieved and forward to what will hopefully be a bright future.
We have much to celebrate in our industry as we close the chapter on another successful year for our sector. The Visitor Economy goes from strength to strength in Victoria, with our industry now worth over $31 billion to our economy with over 230,000 people employed by our sector. Of that, over 92,000 are employed in our tourism world across regional Victoria – that’s just over 10% of regional employment in the state.
Importantly, we have much to look forward to in the year ahead and VTIC is committed to being passionate advocates for the priorities of our industry. We’re also looking forward to working with government as the recommendations from the Regional Tourism Review are presented early in the new year.
2020 is shaping up to be a watershed era for tourism in Victoria and VTIC is proud to work alongside our members and partners to grow the contribution that the visitor economy makes to our state. We can only do what we do on behalf of the industry with your continued support and confidence – so I know I speak for all the VTIC team when I extend a heartfelt thank you to each of you.
I want to also acknowledge the tireless support of our VTIC Board over the past year and thank them for their guidance and dedication through the year.
From everyone at VTIC, may the festive season be filled with love and laughter shared with family and friends, and may the new year hold much happiness.
