VTIC provides leadership for Victoria’s tourism and events industry through ‘One Voice’ advocacy and representation, and provides business development services and networking opportunities to members. VTIC plays an important role in representing Victoria’s tourism industry at all levels of Government on issues that affect the way its members do business. VTIC is under the auspices of the Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Victorian Chamber), Victoria’s largest most influential employer association.
VTIC manages the Australian Tourism Accreditation Program (ATAP) and Star Ratings Australia accreditation (SRA) in Victoria. ATAP and SRA are nationwide quality assurance and business development projects which give tourism operators the ability to demonstrate their commitment to delivering a high quality, reliable and professional tourism experience. The aim of ATAP, SRA and the Australian Tourism Awards, also managed at VTIC, is to enhance the competitiveness, marketability, profitability and sustainability of tourism in Victoria and Australia by improving the quality of tourism products and experiences.
About the role
We are recruiting for a dynamic Accreditation Officer to assist with the delivery of ATAP & SRA Victoria, through the completion of verification activities and supporting tourism businesses with their digital strategy. This is a newly created position due to the acquisition of the Star Ratings Program into the ATAP portfolio, and with the refinement of the existing accreditation program, this is an excellent opportunity to help shape the direction of accreditation in the tourism industry in Victoria. To ensure the programs remain trusted and recognised, you will be conscientious in your work and form relationships across a wide range of stakeholders including regional and local tourism associations, industry and ATAP partners from other states.
To be successful in this position, you will have demonstrated working experience within the hospitality and tourism industry, accommodation sector advantageous. While being compliance focused, you will also be a go-to for our tourism businesses to become digitally ready and will have a working knowledge of digital media, such as online travel agents, Facebook, and Review Pro.
In addition, to ensure the seamless delivery of ATAP and represent the brand, you will:
Be an excellent communicator and have a demonstrated ability to build positive working relationships with a variety of stakeholders
Be comfortable presenting to small groups and communicate content in a user friendly manner
Have effective time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
As this is a state-wide program, a job involving travel appeals to you as there is the requirement to travel across the state of Victoria, often for two to three days at a time. This is a fixed term position until 31 January 2019, due to funding, with a possible view to extension.
