Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources

The Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources (DEDJTR) is the Victorian Government’s lead agency for creating the conditions to sustainably develop the Victorian economy and grow employment.

Our role is to increase jobs, investment, exports and opportunities; stimulate innovation, competitiveness, and confidence; and support sustainability.

The department is committed to building a culture where we say ‘yes’ to flexible work arrangements, and support ways of working that help employees balance work and home life. The department is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applicants from a diverse range of backgrounds.

The department strongly encourages applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

The department offers reasonable adjustments for applicants with disabilities on request.

The Chief, Transport Operations will keep the movement of people and goods flowing in a 24/7 global city during the delivery of over $40 billion of transport projects and upgrades throughout Victoria. The role is a newly created position in Transport for Victoria and will undertake the function of a City Controller.

This means ensuring effective coordination of the transport system during the delivery of major projects and large infrastructure developments. The role will be responsible for effective stakeholder and community engagement, as well as delivering time critical travel information to the Victorian community. The role will also deliver public reporting on transport performance as one system, rather than by modes.

If you can bring a thorough understanding and broad view of transport, and a strategic, whole of program approach, you will find this position highly attractive.  You will have a strong presence, domestic or international credibility, and an influencing style that enables you to implement complex strategies while building buy-in and support from key clients and stakeholders.
