Sofitel Melbourne is currently seeking an experienced and dedicated full time Event Floor Manager to join our conferencing team.

At Sofitel, we place a large emphasis upon the development of our employees. In this role, you will focus on staff development and continual motivation and training of team members.

Reporting directly to the Conference Operations Manager, you will assist in supervising all operational aspects of the department. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Coordinating and overseeing the daily conference and banquet operations.
  • Liaising with Conference organisers to establish day to day needs and special requirements
  • Ensuring that all functions and events run with smoothly, efficiently and with ease.
  • Assist the Conference & Events Operations Manager in the follow up of all guest comments, requests and complaints.
  • Leading a team of colleagues in a fast paced environment.
  • Communicating with staff to ensure all function rooms are set up as per function sheets
  • Devising, implementing and monitoring employee training and development plans.
  • Implementing cost controls to monitor stock and wage costs.
  • Preparation of accounts
  • Attending weekly meetings as a Department representative.
  • Managing equipment needs and all equipment is in full working order at all times.

In the absence of the Conference Operations Manager you will be directly responsible for the running of the department.

To be successful for this role, you will have the ability to quickly and positively react to diverse situations and be able to handle and resolve customer pain points. You will have experience in running small and large functions, including conferences, meetings and banquets and demonstrate a genuine passion for Conference and Events. Your strong communication skills and ability to engage a team is what sets you apart from others.

You are required to have unlimited working rights in Australia, and you must be available to work varied shifts, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends and public holidays.
