Lynette Bergin Tourism Award – Application

The Lynette Bergin Tourism Award is a grant for professional development of an individual through the completion of a case study/studies on a topic that will contribute to the applicant’s personal development and be of benefit to the Victorian tourism and events industry.

The purpose of the Award is to:

  • Promote skills and excellence among young people and new entrants working in the private sector of the Victorian tourism and events industry;
  • Contribute to the continued development and growth of inbound tourism to Victoria; and
  • Perpetuate the skills and contribution of Lynette Bergin. Lynette had a long association with members of the Victorian tourism industry and supported their business and personal development through her generous support and commitment to others. Lynette offered a guiding hand to many of the industry’s newest recruits.

The Project

Applicants may propose undertaking any case study/studies that will contribute to the personal and professional development of the individual. The demonstration of broader lessons that can be applied and communicated across the Victorian tourism industry is desirable.

Case studies may include research elements including participation, observation, interviews and surveys. Education and training are not eligible for this award, as the Lynette Bergin Tourism Award encourages a practical experience. Case studies may be domestic or international – note, travel is not a compulsory component but has traditionally been undertaken.
