Spring is here and it has been a busy month with the footy finals in full swing and the Spring Racing Carnival just around the corner.
The latest International and National Visitor Survey results continue to show strong growth in the number of international and national visitors coming to Victoria.
Entries for the RACV Victorian Tourism Awards closed in early September and judging is now on in earnest. We thank everyone for their patience in dealing with a new national online portal, which the Australian Tourism Industry Council will be seeking to improve in 2018.
On the events front, VTIC was delighted to welcome about 200 guests to our MPs4Tourism Breakfast, with 13 Government MPs in attendance, including the Minister for Tourism and Major Events, the Hon. John Eren MP, and the Treasurer, Tim Pallas MP. We were also delighted to host the Tourism Legends Lunch at William Angliss Institute in September.
VTIC will shortly be submitting our State Budget submission for the 2018 State Budget and will be advocating strongly for greater Government support for our industry.
VTIC is also very pleased to announce that the winner of the Lynette Bergin Tourism Award in 2017 is Peter Wallace from Searoad Ferries. Peter will be researching virtual reality and its application in tourism.
