“Yellow and Black” fever appears to be slowly subsiding as we enter a peak period for the tourism and events industry. In the creative arts, Melbourne has experienced a first class Melbourne Festival.
VTIC, through CPR Communications, has been busy consulting through our Policy committees on an Advocacy Campaign to ensure our industry is well positioned leading into a State election year in 2018.
On the events front, VTIC held a Premium members lunch, with Shadow Treasurer Michael O’Brien MP addressing the audience on the Opposition’s platform for the visitor economy.
I was delighted also to spend some time in regional Victoria and had the opportunity to address the Goulburn River Valley Tourism AGM.
I also travelled to Canberra for some meetings with Federal Ministers, including the Minister for Tourism, Steven Ciobo MP, to discuss national policy issues such as visa changes, skills, and the Tourist Refund Scheme.
The RACV Victorian Tourism Awards Gala Ceremony is now only a month away, so please get in early to secure your tickets to the industry’s night of nights. This will be followed by the VTIC AGM on 29 November.
I look forward to seeing you at one of our upcoming industry events.
