Hopefully by now you’ve received the email from me that launched our campaign outlining VTIC’s 2018 State Election Priorities and our 5 POINT PLAN to grow the visitor economy.
There’s been great pickup of our position across social, metro and regional media and our position is resonating in the all the right places.
On Tuesday, 1 May, the Victoria State Budget will be handed down by the Treasurer and VTIC will participate in the budget lock-up to ensure we are gathering first-hand insights into the outcomes, winners and losers under the budget. We will be responding immediately that day with highlights for our sector and VTIC’s insights on what this means for our future.
Following the budget announcement, we will be reviewing the elements of our Election Priorities in view of anything that may be funded under the budget. Our plan is to then hit the road and undertake our regional roadshow, taking the Election Priorities of our industry to local members in regional towns and centres across the State.
We have six months to drive home our message….to make an impression on the influencers and ‘hopeful’ influencers across Victoria’s major and minor parties. The impact and relevance that the visitor economy represents to this state, particularly in our regional areas, is beyond being ignored and we need them to support our future growth, because TOURISM IS VICTORIA’S BUSINESS.
