Policy & Advocacy

We’re passionate about creating opportunities for tourism and events operators and organisations to thrive.

Our team works tirelessly as an advocate and powerful ally to lobby governments at a local, state and federal level.

We gather and distil the research so both our team and our members know what’s really going on.

In challenging times when governments at all levels are faced with competing demands on their resources, it is vital that the industry has a considered and concerted ‘one voice’ advocacy body.

Tourism is Victoria’s Business is a VTIC campaign designed to raise awareness of the value and impact of tourism and events to Victoria. The campaign was created in the lead-up to the 2018 Victorian State Election, providing a blueprint to grow the visitor economy, create jobs and support business into the future.

As part of the campaign, a Five Point Plan for creating jobs and supporting business in Victoria’s visitor economy was created, which included:
• Secure funding for marketing and events
• Activate Melbourne’s Landmark Precincts
• Invest in our natural assets and regions
• Deliver tourism transport solutions and connectivity
• Enhance workforce training and skills

Whilst the 2018 Victorian State Election has now passed, VTIC will continue to use the Tourism is Victoria’s Business message throughout our policy and advocacy efforts.

Our Policy Committees: How  VTIC will share your voice

Six policy committees underpin VTIC’s advocacy work. We speak to government across issues affecting all of the industry sectors, with one voice.

These Policy Committees feed issues and ideas from the members to the VTIC Board.
