VTIC has welcomed the recent Government announcements regarding improvements to Victorians’ transport network including more affordable CBD travel, free Wi-Fi for some V/Line services and the Melbourne Airport rail link.
Commitments to make CBD travel more affordable will make Melbourne a more attractive destination for international and domestic visitors and encourage them to explore the many attractions our city has to offer.
VTIC also commended the Government on its free Wi-Fi commitment for some V/Line services including trains travelling between Melbourne and Ballarat, Bendigo, Geelong, Seymour and Traralgon. VTIC has consistently called for the introduction of free Wi-Fi on V/Line trains so it is very pleasing that the State Government has promised to deliver this important reform. It will support regional tourism operators and related businesses. We encourage the State Government to consider further rolling out of Wi-Fi services across the full V/Line network.
Further recent discussions of the Melbourne Airport rail link in the lead up to the State Budget were also a sign of progress. While we are yet to hear details of timelines and cost, it is good to see this issue firmly on the agenda.
