More than 200 industry representatives attended the inaugural VTIC MPs 4 Tourism high tea at the Grand Hyatt this week, with 14 MPs in attendance including Victorian Minister for Tourism and Major Events the Hon. Louise Asher.
The event provided tourism operators and stakeholders from across the state the chance to share their aspirations, challenges and projects with our parliamentary and industry leaders.
The Minister highlighted the many great achievements of the Victorian tourism and events industry and also addressed the need for:
- Investment and continued product development
- ‘Up-skilling’ of the tourism workforce and filling labour gaps
- Leadership and innovation
- Specific support for our key target visitor markets – with China and India as priorities.
