The Victoria Tourism Industry Council (VTIC) welcomes the State Government’s announced $3 million for a new regional tourism marketing campaign.
“VTIC has long advocated for greater support for regional tourism and, as recently as yesterday, we called for government funding for activities to drive visitation throughout Victoria,” said VTIC Chief Executive Dianne Smith.
“This announcement is a vital acknowledgement by the government of the importance of promotion to increase visitation and spending through the whole of Victoria.
“Such support is testament to the growth potential of regional tourism, a sector that currently employs over 110,000 people; which is more than half the tourism jobs in our state.
“There are 75,000 enterprises connected with tourism in Victoria, and this investment encourages them to bolster their own commitment to the sector, either through marketing, product innovation or employment.”
“It also encourages Victorians to holiday at home in our great state as it raises awareness of the wonderful visitor experiences on offer.”
