The Victoria Tourism Industry Council welcomes the exciting announcement that White Night will be launched in Geelong and Bendigo for the first time in 2018. White Night is a cultural and artistic phenomenon which has become a mainstay of Melbourne’s Events Calendar and was successfully launched in Ballart for the first time in 2017.
Victoria Tourism Industry Council Chief Executive Brad Ostermeyer said, “White Night is now a well-recognised fixture of Victoria’s events calendar and draws visitors from Melbourne, Australia and all around the world. Across continuous all-night events, both Melbourne and Ballarat come alive showcasing their cultural and creative best.
The expansion of this successful concept to Geelong and Bendigo is great news and has tremendous potential for stimulating tourism to these regional cities. Visitors from Melbourne, Australia and around the world will now have even more reason to build a multi-night trip to Geelong and Bendigo as part of their Victorian visit. This will positively impact the many accommodation, winery, restaurant and tourism businesses that are so important to these regional cities.
This expansion initiative is positive but we must not stop there. There are many other cities across regional Victoria with a rich indigenous and cultural heritage that will benefit from this highly successful concept. We must continue to expand the event across even more cities in regional Victoria which will help bring in more visitors and create greater awareness of what Regional Victoria has to offer”.
