The first in a series of online professional development workshops tailored for Visitor Information Services team leaders and volunteer managers.

Having presented one of the most popular sessions at the 2020 VIS Summit, we welcome back Georgie Stayches, Chief Engagement Officer at Fetching Events & Communications to facilitate this series of workshops.

This workshop will cover:

  • How programs and roles have historically been filled, based on out of date requirements
  • How needs of programs have evolved
  • Changes in behaviour and trends in volunteering
  • How to bring the wider organisation into the conversation
  • Involving your volunteer teams in the solutions

The 90-minute session is limited to 30 participants and will feature interactive breakout rooms. This series is available to all VIS team leaders and volunteer managers at no cost.

After completing a Bachelor of Media Arts in 1996 at Deakin University, Georgie Stayches commenced her career at the Tennis. From there, her varied career has seen her work at media organisations including Channel Nine and Granada Television (London) as well as major events including the 2000 Sydney Olympic and Paralympic Games, 2002 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, 2006 Commonwealth Games and the 2006 Asian Games (Qatar).

From there she transitioned to community events and volunteer engagement including the Pioneer and Working Horse Festival and Teddy Bear’s Picnic as well as national roadshows including taking Winnie the Pooh and Tigger around Australia or delivering national graduations. Georgie’s experience has covered the spectrum.

As the Chief Engagement Officer at Fetching Events & Communications, an organisation she founded over 11 years ago, she is passionate about fostering engagement with the community’s most valued resource.

Her commitment to the not-for-profit sector has seen her take on the role as Chair & board member of Better Hearing Australia, Victoria’s only independent not for profit hearing service, for nearly four years. In addition she has been a member of the Marketing Advisory Committee for the Royal Flying Doctor Service, is President of the Port Phillip Branch of The Country Women’s Association and Vice President of the Bastille Day French Festival. Georgie also volunteers with the HomiesHomework Help Club in South Melbourne and The National Trust of Australia at the Portable Iron Houses property.
