VTIC is the peak body and lead advocate for Victoria’s tourism, hospitality and events industry.

We unite to become one voice that advocates effectively to government, in collaboration with our Sector Roundtables and Taskforces, working to influence and shape the future of Victoria’s visitor economy.

Sector Roundtables

Four Sector Roundtables underpin VTIC’s advocacy work. Over 250 VTIC members sit on a Sector Roundtable, providing broad input and insights from across the industry. We represent the united industry voice to government across matters affecting all industry sectors, with one voice.

Our Sector Roundtables are:

  • Accommodation
  • Events
  • Attractions and Tour & Transport
  • Destinations and Tourism Services

Sector Roundtable membership is open to members at the Extra level and above.

Policy Advisory Council

The Policy Advisory Council is an advisory body to the Board, providing guidance and advice on policy matters arising from the four Sector Roundtables and acting as a key channel for policy development.

Policy Advisory Council membership comprises VTIC members at the Platinum level, the Chair and Deputy Chair of each Sector Roundtable, and the VTIC Board.

Taskforces

VTIC convenes taskforces and working groups to tackle critical industry issues.

These groups comprise industry representatives from across Victoria. Their input enables us to present united and coordinated industry views on critical matters.

Our most recent work is outlined below.

As the November election draws closer, it’s imperative we have a strong and united message to deliver to the incumbent Government, to the Opposition, and to every local candidate looking to win a seat in this election. That message is simple, #tourismmatters.

Visitor Economy Recovery Taskforce- June 2020 and March 2021

With the bushfires in early January 2020 followed closely by the COVID-19 crisis, the industry in Victoria has faced unprecedented challenges. No sector has been hit as hard or for such a sustained period.

VTIC convened the Visitor Economy Recovery Taskforce to inform the direction of any government recovery response plan and to ensure the priorities of industry were front and centre in shaping the way back.

The Taskforce produced a submission that includes recommendations and represents a comprehensive and cohesive industry view on the actions needed to support Victoria’s visitor economy to recover and grow into the next decade and beyond. The original submission was updated and provided to government again in March 2021.
